Dr. Jennifer Formichelli Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Dr. Jennifer Formichelli Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in 2022 in consultation with Jennifer’s family, provides annual scholarship awards to students with backgrounds historically underrepresented at BU Academy, with a preference for students from the City of Boston.

Jennifer Formichelli tragically passed away in an accident on October 26, 2021. She touched so many lives in the Boston University and BU Academy communities, and her loss is profoundly felt.

Jennifer was an English teacher at BU Academy and was previously a lecturer in BU’s Core Curriculum and the College of General Studies. She is remembered as a thoughtful, highly intellectual scholar of English literature; a champion of social justice, deeply committed to equity and inclusion in and out of the classroom; a proud resident of Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood; and, most of all, an engaged and dedicated teacher who loved her students. Through her work at BU Academy, she shaped the lives of hundreds of young people.
